Conference

The annual NETA conference, usually held in early May, is the highlight of our programming season. It offers a full day of presentations for translators, interpreters, language students, and anyone interested in translation and interpreting. We close the day with a networking reception. The conference is an excellent opportunity to make contact with colleagues, potential clients, and friends from New England and beyond.

Among the educational opportunities are presentations for those new to the field as well as for more experienced translators and interpreters. Past speakers include such luminaries as Arthur Goldhammer, Ilan Stavans, and Jost Zetzsche. Topics range from our perennial “Getting Started” panels, one for new translators and one for new interpreters, to film subtitling, preserving the quality of patient care, and dealing with direct clients, to name a few. The pace is relaxed and the chances to meet and greet between sessions and at the closing reception are ample.

And attendance counts! Attendees who are certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) are eligible to earn continuing education credits. Interpreters can also earn credits.
