ATA Exam Sittings

The ATA Examination

ATA's procedure for offering exams and practice sessions is changing. For now, please follow the link at the bottom for the latest exam schedule.

The ATA certification examination is now being administered both in person and online throughout the year. NETA itself has for years sponsored a sitting on the Sunday following our annual conference in April or May.

You must be a member of ATA and satisfy other software and hardware requirements in order to sit for the exam. You may wish to take practice tests as part of your preparation.

A completed registration form, along with payment of $525, must be received by ATA headquarters by the posted deadline. There is limited seating capacity, and spaces sell out quickly. No waiting list is maintained.

Complete information on the ATA Certification Program: https://www.atanet.org/certification/about-the-ata-certification-exam/. At the bottom of this page, you will find a link to the ATA certification handbook.

ATA-certified translators must earn 20 Continuing Education Credits over a three-year period of time in order to maintain their certification credential.

Each spring, NETA's conference committee submits a preliminary program to the ATA, which informs us of the number of credits that ATA-certified translators who attend the annual NETA Conference are eligible to earn. Attendance certificates for this and other certifications will be available.
